Brian, a retired firefighter and restaurant owner, has always been deeply connected to his community. Since 2011, he has channeled his passion for service into volunteering and serving on the board for his local Make-A-Wish chapter. When he heard about Seven’s wish to be a chef, it struck a chord with him. “Seven really wanted to make tacos, pizza and burgers,” Brian recalled. With the help of his business partner, Chef Nick, and other local restaurateurs, they orchestrated an unforgettable experience. “Everyone was excited to play a small part in Seven’s big day.”

As planning went on, Seven’s wish day turned into something far greater than Brian expected. What started as a small idea grew bigger with every conversation. “More people from the community wanted to be a part of it,” Brian said. "The local fire department, police, ambulance corps, even the students and hospital staff got involved. It was amazing to see everyone come together.”

Ultimately, the whole town rallied for Seven, lining the streets as she arrived at Brian’s restaurant in her limousine. “It was a proud moment, not just for those of us directly involved, but for the entire community. Everyone realized how lucky they were and how easy it was to give back.”

For Brian, it wasn’t just about granting Seven’s wish – it was about creating a support system.

Seven’s family saw that they weren’t alone, and I think Seven felt all the love surrounding her that day.

Brian’s message to the community is clear: you don’t need to have a lot of money to be a WishMaker. “It’s about time, creativity and a willingness to help,” he said. “We can always use new ideas. And when people see what’s possible, they want to get involved too.

“If you have a platform, you should use it in your community.”

The most powerful part of being a WishMaker, Brian says, is the unmatched sense of fulfillment that comes from giving back. By becoming a WishMaker today, you too can make a lasting impact on the lives of children with critical illnesses like Seven – and in the process, transform your own life as well.
